What do Woody Allen, Lenny Bruce, Robin Williams, and Michael Savage have in common you ask? They all got their start in San Francisco. Watch out Twin Cities, Michael Savage’s The Savage Nation radio showis changing the landscape of Twin Cities radio.

How did a U.C. Berkeley Ph.D., "Upper West Side" social worker, author and former New York City schoolteacher become a firebrand conservative? And why do so many liberals continue to listen to someone they despise? Never one to mince words, Savage calls it like he sees it and no political party, President or pundit is immune. While you may not agree with Savage's politics, you cannot deny his phenomenal growth in radio. With over 220 affiliates in 15 months, Michael Savage is taking radio by storm.

What makes Savage so unique is not just what he says, but who he is. "I'm not your father's radio personality," says Savage.  He is the first to admit that he did not follow the usual path to radio. "My background is somewhat eclectic," says Savage. Eclectic indeed.

Savage holds several advanced degrees in medical anthropology and epidemiology, including two Masters and a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley. This is not your stereotypical political radio show host. But then again, this "ex-liberal" does not stereotype easily. In a single show he can be found upholding the importance of environmental protection, railing against radical feminism, and finish up with a plea for political compassion. While many other commentators were weaned in radio, Savage took the road less traveled and covered some unusual territory along the way. His background is a patchwork of occupations, which ultimately add to his mass appeal. Savage is the founder and fearless leader of The Paul Revere Society. He has also authored 18 books, including Savage Nation.

All of this may explain why Michael Savage is unique, but not why he thrives in his hometown of San Francisco, the most liberal radio market in the country. Savage has a funny, edgy, and compelling quality that keeps you on your toes - whatever your politics. Tune in to AM1280 The Patriot weekdays from 8–11 PM.  Or tune in the next morning from 6–8 AM for the replay of the previous night’s show on The Patriot II on AM 1570.
